Welcome to Myanmar

Myanmar, known as Pagoda Land or The Land of Smiles  is the largest contry in the South-east Asia Penisular sharing borders with Bangladesh, India, China, Laso and Thailand. With a total land area of 676,557 sq. km, it is about the size of United Kingdom and France combined. The country stretches over 2090 km from north to south and over 925 km east to west. It has a 2832 km long coastline on the indian Ocean. Over 50 percent of the total land area is covered with forests. 
Myanmar is a union of 135 ethnic groups with their own languages and dialects.
The Kachin, the Shan, the Kayah, the Karen, the Mon, the Rakhine ( Arakan ).  The population of Myanmar is about 55 million with the Bamar, the majority race. making up about 70 percent.
As a big country with different climate and different tribe people, we can offer a lot of places around the country to visit. But due to travel restriction for the tourists by the governmant, tourists can visit with a car to those  places such as........

Kyaik Htiyo ( Golden Rock )
Hpa-an and Mawlamyine
Taungoo
Kalaw
Pindaya
Lake inle
Taunggyi and Kakku
Mandalay and around
Hsipaw
Namhsan
Monywa

And with flight, tourists can visit freely to....
Kengtung and around
Mergui ( but not to islands )
Myitkyina

And by boat, tourists can visit freely to Bahmo, north of Mandalay along river Irrawaddy.
There are  special permission required  to travel to following places. To get a permission, sometimes take three weeks or more and local travel agency have to apply for it. those Places are....
Mrauk-U  by car
Chin mountain  by car
North of Mandalay along the Irrawaddy River  by car
North of Monywa along Chindwin River  by boat
Putao  by flight
Mergui Islands  by boat
Mogok  and Hpakhant  which are famous with Jewellery mines are
only allowed to visit with military operated travel agency which is called Myawaddy Travels & Tours. 
Famous place of long neck people , Loikaw  is absolutely forbidden to tourists.

So generally by road, tourists cannot go beyond south of  Mawlamyaing  for the southern part of the country. In north eastern parts, tourists are not allowed to go beyond Lashio  without permission. In South eastern parts, beyond Taunggyi  is not possible by road.  Far north of Mandalay  need to have permission and Chin State which is west of Chindwin River  also needed to have permission in advance.
